We also did NOT switched OFF the RUDAK-Beacon. It seems that after a while something changes with the comand bits.. i.e. turning it into ranging mode etc. We thought that probably GEOS switches the bits automatically to give us any chance if during recovery? We installed no a WATCH software, which records every change for later analyse. Don't be worry if you hear strange signals. We tested today the RTX which was too loaded with IPS etc... The first DSP routine worked also perfect and we made a short FM qso as last year on the water tower, do you remember? So, RUDAK seems to be 100% OK at the moment. We only wonder about the sensitivity of the receiver channels, which is probably much lower than expected etc.. I also wonder if the CW Beacon makes more output power than the RUDAK beacon... indeed, signals are strong enough..hi This evening we will probably upload the BBS software and some speach routines into the RTX unit... I listened (as did mni who we alerted via the AMSAT-EU and AMSAT-UK Nets) to OSCAR-21 alias RS-14 again today, and copied excellent TLM and what appeared to be RUDAK-II employment. I cannot 'see' or 'read' RUDAK of course, but most certainly the signals sound wonderful. CW TLM @ 0956 24 February: RS14 7057-7124-7224-7316-7419-7577-7612-77PP RS14 I will alert the W and VE boys tonight on the 14.282 MHz AMSAT International net at 1830, and ask them to monitor. They do not know it is on yet! They will be very happy! 73, Pat, G3IOR @ GB7VLS P.S. G4CUO reports excellent transponding of OSCAR-21 signals through FO-20 and was still able to copy signals when OSCAR-21 was sub-horizon on 435 MHz via FUJI 'JA' transponder today. It was delightful for me to hear it's TLM on the 1105 - 1123 UTC Saturday 23 February pass today. I copied, at 1115 UTC .... RS14 7026-7121-7224-7316-7410-7500-7600-77PP RS14. Signals were fully readable using a GP with -6dB of attenuating coax, and were very solid using my 10 element AZ-EL XY Yagi. I look forwards to hearing the transponder on soon. Don't be worry about strange signals on the RUDAK beacon.. All, except that RUDAK beacon is sometimes OFF, is normal We switched between RUDAK-1 and RUDAK-RTX unit and during software loading and other activities you will hear sometimes a steady carrier etc. Probably what your heard sounding like noise etc was FM modulation.. did you heard the voice talking in english? It was an FM modulated signal generated by the RTX system... Just after you have got BUSY from Hanspeter, RUDAK was switched back to AMSAT-Telemetry mode.. This evening we successfully loaded the mailboxsoftware which is now running since 19:30 utc... We have no idea why the beacon is sometimes switched off, we also did not sent such command!? Again, RUDAK and all it's systems are 100% OK... The RUDAK beacon should be in 1200 PSK Mode (RBBS), but I could only copy NOISE... It seems that it was again switched to RANGING mode by the command lines... something is wrong there.. No chance to command back to RUDAK beacon at this low elevation... Roger Roger abt commanding.. I understand that you did no commanding and we confident on that, because sometimes the Satellite switched when we did nothing and you had no visibility.. i.e. late evening orbits. I heard from LU8DYF that the beacon switched over LU from 400 probably to ranging and than off?! We have no idea what's happen there, We think it is not a RUDAK-problem, but something with the command lines. We hope to analyse the effects by software.. Oh yes, we simulated RX etc with best equimpment etc. But it now seems that the sensitivity is better than few days before. Probably depending on the S/C attitude... do you know if the locked to earth gravity and are 100% earthpointing the satellite now all the time? Oh, AO21 is comming in a few minutes and I have to plug my tnc now..hi Best greetings and congrats.. What I understand from Noberto's message is, that after 400 Bit/s the beacon was probably in ranging mode. However, we found that the Beacon was sometimes in a) Ranging mode or b) OFF or c) OFF and in RANGING mode... You can select these modes with TCMD1 and TCMD3 command lines. The commandlines are wired to inputs of some digital devices in the hardware command decoder from RUDAK. The lines are pulled down by resistors to GND (0V) value. If your command line is not 14V the resistor will keep it definitivly to 0V (gnd). Yes, we can command RUDAK independently using our own HF uplinks, because the are EXORed with the TCMD lines. Indeed a complex PN checking sequence is used for security etc. TCMD3 m u s t be keeped to 0V (default) or +14V (if we invert). If this line is changed, the RUDAK-Beacon will switch into RANGING mode. That means that the primary receiver/demodulator is directly wired to the modulator/transmitter! If no uplink is present, this will sound like noise.... The same indeed with TCMD1, normally it should be 0V to command RUDAK Beacon ON, but we can invert that and switch it OFF. If you than set the line to +14V, the Beacon will again turn ON and vice versa. TCMD3 is used to switch the priority Telecommand Receiver. TCMD4 has no further function and can be used to control software. Important is, that TCMD1, TCMD2, TCMD3 are in direct interaction with the hardware (beacon).. these lines must be not changed during normal operation! At the moment it looks like that at least TCMD1 and TCMD3 are sometimes changing there logical level (0V/+14V)..
